Executive Summary

The Safety Collective supports the proposed bylaw. Provided such a bylaw is applied as part of a wider strategic evidence-based response to alcohol harm reduction, such as the response set out in Auckland Council’s Internal Strategy to Minimise Alcohol-related Harm, it can be a useful tool.

We note that the current review of the Auckland Council and Auckland Transport Signage Bylaw 2015 is a further opportunity to minimise harm – in that instance by reducing exposure to alcohol marketing across Tāmaki Makaurau.
